The Cathedral of San Salvador, known as La Seo, is one of the most prominent symbols of the artistic heritage of Aragon.
During Muslim period existed in the same place the Aljama Mosque. On December 18, 1118 King Alfonso I the Warrior conquered Zaragoza and took possession of the city for the kingdom of Aragon. From this point on the mosque was converted into a Christian church.
In1140 the old mosque was demolished and started building a Romanesque temple. In the period between 1317 and 1345 the temple was rebuilt in ghotic style.
